Beginning to think about our models as a space to be occupied was the highlight of this week. Staircases are often key aspects of a space, whether in the lobby of a grand hotel or in the middle of a park. As difficult as it was to execute a staircase as functional and key, it was a joy to finally create an actualized model of something that could potentially exist. Taking our models, reshaping and creating a collage of the pieces was an intricate process as well, and the flow of space really came into play. It’s truly inedible to think of architecture as a symphony of space. How the motion of a building is like the rise and fall of an orchestra, the staircases a great crescendo to an open balcony fanfare. The combination of beautiful designs with function and structure is what makes architecture so special, and I look forward to building my synthesized form model this weekend.
"But you saved me. As difficult and as frustrating as it’s been sometimes, your goddamned strict rationalism and science have saved me a thousand times over. You’ve kept me honest. You’ve made me a whole person. I owe you everything… Scully, and you owe me nothing."
